Pablo Picasso





Born on 25th October, 1881, in the city of Malaga in the Andalusian region of Spain, Pablo Ruiz Picasso was a Spanish painter, Draughtsman, Sculptor and possibly one of the most recognized figures in the twentieth century. Pablo Picasso is best known as the co-founder of the Cubist movement and for the wide variety of styles embodied in his work. For most of his life, Picasso was a professor of art at the School of Crafts and a curator of a local museum.

Picasso’s work is usually characterized into periods and some of the commonly accepted periods in his work include the ‘Blue Period’, the ‘Rose Period’, the ‘African influenced period’, ‘Analytic Cubism’ and ‘Synthetic Cubism’. There are numerous museums across the world featuring some of the greatest works of Picasso. The ‘Museum of Modern Art’ in New York City successfully exhibited the scope of Picasso’s artistry in America. The ‘Museu Picasso’ in Barcelona also features some of the rarest works of Picasso showcasing his firm grounding in classical techniques. Some of his famous works include the proto-cubist Les Demoiselles d’Avignon and his depiction of the German Bombing of Guernica during the Spanish Civil War.

Although each of Picasso’s paintings is a rarity in itself, some of his paintings rank among the most expensive paintings in the world.
